
Derek Bierman is Vice President for Technology Services and Chief Information Officer at Doane University, where he serves on the university’s leadership team and connects technology strategy with institutional priorities, student experience, cybersecurity, and operational improvement.
His higher-education technology career has included leadership at Doane University and Northeast Community College, along with long-running service in Nebraska’s statewide technology community. He has served on the Nebraska Information Technology Commission’s Education Council, participates in national higher-education technology communities including Internet2, and serves on advisory groups with industry partners.
B.S. in Management of Information Systems, Bellevue University; ITIL Foundations certification.
Derek helped found KANE in 2013 and now serves as Chair and Director. His work has focused on turning peer relationships into practical shared services, collaborative purchasing, cybersecurity cooperation, and opportunities for institutions to solve common technology challenges together.
